How to set up IPTV on Android TV and Google TV

Watch IPTV in five steps on Android TV, Google TV or an Android box: from the Play Store to the programme guide.

Published Updated 2 min read

Android TV and Google TV are favourites among IPTV viewers. You'll find them on TVs from Philips, Sony, TCL and Hisense, and on boxes and sticks such as Chromecast with Google TV. The big advantage: you choose from the widest selection of player apps.

The best apps for Android TV

  • TiviMate — a clear, cable-style TV guide.
  • OTT Navigator — fully customisable for those who like to fine-tune.
  • Televizo — simple and fast, on your phone too.

All three are independent apps. Compare them on our compatible apps page.

Setup in five steps

  1. Open the Play Store on your TV or box.
  2. Install the player of your choice.
  3. In the app, choose ‘Xtream Codes’ as the playlist type.
  4. Enter the server URL, username and password.
  5. Wait for channels and the EPG to load, then set your favourites.

Faster and more stable viewing

Android TV devices with little storage can slow down. Remove unused apps, clear your player's cache now and then and use an Ethernet cable where possible. More tips in improving streaming quality.
